For STD tests: No preparation is required if you are taking a blood test. For tests that require a urine sample, you will be asked to refrain from urinating for at least 1 hour before your test. Additionally, women should not cleanse their genitals, douche, or use vaginal creams before providing a urine sample. Antibiotics may affect the results of your test; however, do not stop taking any medications without talking to your physician first. Additional instructions will be provided to you at the testing center.

For non-STD tests: Some tests will require you to fast 9-12 hours before the test. Most of the time you can still consume water, and take your medications, even if the test requires you to fast. Cholesterol and blood sugar tests are common tests that usually require fasting.

There are no additional fees. There is an option to have mobile service, where a healthcare professional can come to your home or office and obtain the samples for an additional fee.
